"U.S. health officials are set to rule on whether a faster-growing, genetically engineered fish is safe to eat in a decision that could deliver the first altered animal food to consumers' dinner plates."

Let's hope the new genetics don't code for some kind of abnormal protein that causes kidney failure or something like that.

For anyone familiar with out there theories, some believe the monsters of mythology were the outcome of previous genetic manipulations with unintended outcomes.

MSNBC is reporting more insanity.

"Vaccines and other pharmaceuticals grown in bananas and other plants.
Trademarked "Enviropigs" whose manure does not pollute as much.
Cows that do not produce methane in their flatulence"

At least the article is balanced with the pro/con camps weighing in.  Glad to see they spoke to Marion Nestle who is often on the money in here commentary.  (I reccommend her book on consumerism).  The pro GMO crowd offer very little substance to their "we see no risk" arguments.  To compare plants and animals that cross (hybrids) with GMO is completely irrational when you consider the means by which THEY are choosing and inserting DNA into completely unrelated entities that THEN can spread to all other compatible entities without ANY chance of reversing the outcome.

Kinda dumb to say the least.

And the boo hoo hoo we won't be able to feed the world without it baloney is so old and tired.  GMO is for one thing: profit.  Feeding the world could easily be accomplished at 1% of the cost.  Let's try not dumping food deliberately to raise prices.  Stop paying farmers NOT to grow food.  Stop using outdated storage facilities. Stop wasting food by shipping it all over the world (local consumption).  I could go on...but the line is a Farce.

9 billlion Frankensteins Forever is worse than 3 billion real people.

They can't even speak to an obvious issue of wind pollinated corn (which they are using the manufacture plastic and also drugs) getting into regular corn....

Maybe to do need to convince my govt to ban GMO seeds....

great idea, GMO seeds are about profit. Seeds developed by farmers like Tom Wagoner seem to be about taste, appearance, vigor (not necessarily in that order). If you really can keep them out of your world this Beeherder thinks you would be most wise and sagacious indeed.

As eye see it you should, do what you think is right.
