Home security system advice
« on: August 24, 2010, 08:27:35 AM »
There are alot of break ins in my area lately and I need something other than my gun. Need some advice on a home security system. Anyone have any systems they like? Been debating between a sysytem like ADT that is monitored, but has a monthly fee vs a do it yourself wireless system. I hate the idea of being under a contract with a company for a monthly fee. Are the do it yourself things just as good? I don't have the skills to do anything wired or too elebrate. I looked stuff up the net and there are many many options. Any advice?
Was also considering buying some pepper spray for self defense. My daughter walks home from school daily and thought this would be good for her to carry.

A friend of mine is divorcing her husband and he's been taking some scary actions towards her.  She went to Home Depot and got some devices you stick on your window that sound an alarm if there are vibrations (like someone opening it or breaking the glass).  I think she said they were $10 a piece.
If someone says something unkind about me, I must live so that nobody will believe it.
