Please send your........
« on: April 14, 2010, 01:30:20 PM »
Due to an accident at work late last night while making an extra run for work, I was unloading bread down the trailer ramp and an elderly gentelman backed into the trailer ramp knocking me off the ramp and to the concrete 4' below. So I ended up with an injured back neck and shoulder. Will be off work for at least the next week or 10 days. Luckily our preps have left us with decent savings of about 9-10 months wages, food and other needs for at least a year. So we should be okay that way. However some things we can't prep for like the inconvinence of a job/home/travel injury that keeps you from work or enjoying the things we enjoy. Being off work would be fine BUT due to my limitations I am not supposed to work in my garden or with my fruit trees/plants and such. So Your prayers, positive thoughts and such will be appreciated and good feelings for my sanity until this is over will be greatly appreciated.

I'm so sorry Oldsoldier; that must be terribly frustrating. I will definitely be sending prayers your way for a speedy recovery. Glad your preparation efforts put you in a good situation to weather the storm, at least. On the bright side, maybe you'll find lots of interesting things to post here for the benefit of the community :) Get better

That sucks. I did something similar while working in a warehouse. Eat plenty of protein if you're not already.

Sorry to hear that!  Get well soon!

You might want to try arnica tablets.

Thanks gang for the good words. At least one good thing will come from this. I can work on the "manual" for the class'es we are planning at the local survival store. The owner has said there are several people as well as some business' that are interested in holding training classes.

Arnica is a homeopathic remedy for all sorts of bruised flesh.  Including muscles and joints.  It speeds healing.

There are creams, but if your injuries are deeper inside, it is better to take tablets.

Opsec, I've never myself taken the tablets.  I haven't had any injuries severe enough.  But I have used the creams on black-and-blues.  My friends swear by the tablets, though.  And I've tried enough of homeopathic remedies to feel pretty comfortable that they work.

Thanks for the info. I'll check at the local herbal store for them.

UPDATE!! sad23 it has been a strange last couple of days.Seems that for whatever reason when the police ran "gramps" through the computer after he hit my truck a couple weeks ago it didn't show his licence was revoked because he failed the vision test at the DMV.  Sooooo.... even though his vehicle was insured he WAS NOT!!  So they basically said that " they ain't payin" Workers comp has decided that it wasn't a work comp matter but results of an auto accident :confused009: So they ain't gonna pay either.  :think005: So Okay...... Looks like my health insurance MIGHT pay for my medical bills but I'm SOL on lost wages :shocked011: Good thing one of my/our preps is a " rainy day" fund where we ( mostly my wife  :ashamed008:) have saved a couple months amount of income just in case.  So the bills will still get paid, and I haven't had to worry yet about getting into the food stores.

Let my situation be a reminder here to everyone [color=redPLEASE!!![/color] Make putting back a little extra $$ every chance you get because ya never know if__________.

This is a serious matter.  :hug005:

I'm going over this in my head trying to figure out some way resolve this. Your car insurance probably won't cover uninsured motorist because you weren't actually driving. You could sue the driver for liability but might have difficulty collecting.

Was the driver working for anyone when he hit you (that's "vicarious liability")?

Rest of group: any ideas?
