The Seattle Times was charging $80 for tiny generic 3-line ads. Craigslist was free, and still is for most types of posts. Even when you pay for it, you get a much better deal, because you can say what you want (aside from federal regulations, and the Craigslist ban on gun sales), and display pictures. The Seattle Times had fixed formats for rental ads, were slow, and extremely unreliable. You would place an ad and then you could not find it; they have multiple versions of their newspaper!!! Or it would be delayed. You would call them BEFORE the weekend deadline, and they would miss it anyway. Nasty, nasty, nasty snotty advertizing staff.

Now you know one of the REAL reasons that the media has played footsy with the government, reporting disinformation such as Judith Miller's lies. People don't want to be lied to.
