Bicycle Carts/Trailers for Hauling, etc.
« on: April 30, 2009, 11:29:03 PM »
This topic seems to be appropriate for this Forum.

I've been bike-commuting for almost a year now.  Recently got a two-wheeled bike trailer for dogs from a friend that we use for the farmer's market.  I medium sized ice chest fits comfortably in it.

One of the best sites for bike carts is:  http://bikecart.pedalpeople.com/index.html
check out their photo gallery here:  http://bikecart.pedalpeople.com/gallery.html
They have some seriously ingenious designs.

For some folks, it's a big step transitioning to the utility of a bicycle for many of the needs we currently rely on the auto for.  I just sold my 1986 gas-guzzling Land Cruiser and now am carless.  Fortunately, there are heaps of bicycle trails and lanes where I currently live.

Here's a great site that gives one person's perspective on LIVING WITHOUT A CAR:  http://www.ramblesandbyways.com/transit/no_car.html

BTW, one of the businesses that thrived during the first Depression was bicycle shops.

I'll post the Ravi Batra list and updated list of business that thrived during the Great Depression in the Career Ideas Forum.

I live in a golf cart community where high schoolers drive the golf carts to school.  When gas went to $4, the golf cart was the thing to drive.  We have about 100 miles of golf cart paths.  Some golf carts are solar.  I like driving to McDonalds and go through the drive thru in the golf cart.  You should see all the golf cart parking spaces at WalMart.

In winter, we have an enclosure that zips around the GC, I added a propane heater that fits in the cup holder, add a blanket and it gets comfy.  Pretty cool. (no pun intended)  I have seen some with hitches and haul the kayaks to the lake or use it to haul the trash cans up the drive ways for trash removal.  On the 4th of July, we hook up a small trailer and throw in an ice chest and chairs and we are at the parade.  An average used gc costs about $2K.

Just out of curiosity, what city is this community in?

Yes it is for electrical wiring on the outside of walls. It is made from galvanised steel and easy to bend. Lighter and stronger than pvc....

Any chance of seeing pictures?
Or maybe the design?
I'd love to build a couple?

Copy the text using the mouse and then put it in quotes in a post.
