Free templates for free office software

For some reason, they aren't organized very well. I found the template I was looking for, using scroogle.org, but not through the site's own menu navigation system or the search function either.

I use OpenOffice exclusively. It sort of works, and MS Word is full of bizarre design flaws, in part due to changeover of management, whereby each manager would try to imprint the project with his or her ego, without considering usability, elegance, design considerations for the documents being produced, etc.

I use openoffice at home.  The new MS Excel is a disaster in terms of layout and functionality.  What do you use templates for?  I'd like to find one to create a newsletter.

I wanted a template for doing a trifold brochure, because it gets to be a lot of trouble to figure out the dimensions for the layout, and then make a mistake and have the creases in the wrong spot or something like that.

Newsletters are easy, but that's partially because I personally like a very simple format, to look more like a personal letter. The modern 3-column formats look busy and too commercial to me.

Sometimes I do two unequal columns; a narrow column and a wide column. The wide column for the main stories, and the narrow columns for minor stuff.

To do a wide column, increase the leading (the space between lines) to 125%; that makes it easier to track. Otherwise, wide columns get hard to read.
